Check whether the surface of the bearings is smooth and whether there are any marks, scratches, rust, etc. on various bearing components caused by improper transportation; For riveted cages, it is necessary to determine whether their connection is reliable and whether the riveted joint interferes with the inner and outer rings; Is there any discoloration caused by heat treatment on the bearings.
2 [Hand touch]
Touching the various components of the bearing with your hand mainly determines whether there are burrs or sharp corners at the chamfer, and can also roughly estimate the size of the surface roughness.
3 [Hand rotation]
Hold the outer ring with your hand, rotate the inner ring, and check if the bearing rotates smoothly, if there are any abnormal noises or jamming problems. Observe whether the gap between the cage and the rolling element is too large, and whether the rolling element is sagging relative to the outer ring.
4 Measurement
Measure the dimensions of the bearings according to the bearing drawings provided by the bearing manufacturer.
Measuring clearance generally uses a feeler gauge, which is simple and convenient; The measurement of diameter can be done using an inner and outer micrometer, while the measurement of width can be done using a height gauge or a vernier caliper. Each size should be measured 2-3 times to ensure accuracy.
5 [Record]
Record the measured data, including the number, diameter, and length of rolling elements, the width of the cage, bearing number, and installation time.
6 Analysis
Based on the recorded bearing installation position, on/off time, summarize and analyze the suitable structure for installation and use, and provide feedback to the bearing manufacturer for negotiation and modification to meet on-site use.
